The first time I could lift more than 700 in the DL, I heard them say: "It's genetics". And behind my back: "...and drugs".
Idem with my squat and bench (what they dunno, apparently: you just can't be genetically gifted for the DL AND the bench press and squat, as they require opposite morphologies)
The same with my arms, chest and legs.
The fact was: it was 20 years of hard work and above all THE GOOD EXERCISES, THE GOOD NUMBER OF SETS, THE GOOD NUMBER OF REPS.
And no, I wasn't particularly gifted, and, no again, I never took drugs.
And by the way, to know how Gunnar used to train interests me prncipally from the historical point of view.
